PTPC Hosts Advanced Tournaments

 

Port Townsend Pickleball Club had great participation in our two tournaments this weekend! 

 

Women's Advanced Doubles Results

On Saturday, 3 August, the Club’ hosted its first Advanced Women’s Doubles tournament, we had eight teams play a round robin.  Jeannie Ramsey and Libbey Lincoln gave Jeannie’s friend, Fay Bruns (from Maricopa. AZ) and Cheryl Holatz (from Portland, OR) a run for their money in the bronze medal match. In the Gold-Medal match, Heidi Poley and Sherri Henke powered through to beat Mary Critchlow and Sharlene Shiroma in the best 2 out of 3 games.

Men's Advanced Doubles Results

On Sunday, 4 August, in another first, the club had eight teams compete in the Men’s Advanced tournament.  Well-matched teams competed in a round-robin format, which ended up with third through fifth separated by four points.  Rick Kelly and Doug Kurata won a hard-fought grudge match with Don Bryson and Steve Smolinski to take Bronze.  Brandon Mack and Keith Hitchcock, dressed to the nines, beat Gilly Gilmore and Steve Stratton in an exciting shoot out (the best 2 of 3 games) to win the Gold.Shiroma in the best 2 out of 3 games.
