Members and non-members gathered at the YMCA indoors for the “PTPC Paddles Up” Gala Saturday, April 9, 2022. Ladder and Round Robin play sign ups took place along with a fun dinking tournament and a raffle with awesome prizes. To see more photos of the gala, click here. It is really exciting that play will begin for those players signed up for the Intermediate Ladder. There are nine teams with the possibility of one or two more being added soon. The current ladder will continue for eight weeks, with those players not included and wanting to play having the opportunity to be added to the ladder in late June. We are still waiting to begin the 3.5+ Advanced Ladder until we get a few more teams. Currently we have seven teams, and I would like to have ten. So grab yourself a partner and join in the fun! Please contact Jeannie Ramsey, 360-531-4195 or jeannieram01@gmail.com to take part in the first ever PTPC Ladders. Dear Port Townsend Picklers, Our Capital Campaign to raise money for permanent pickleball courts at Mountain View is well underway. You can track our fundraising on the homepage of our website by the big, red thermometer. We have made a lot of progress so far, but we still have a way to go. Also up on the website is our Donor List. A huge thank you goes to everyone who has already pledged their support for this project. If you have not yet made a pledge to donate, please consider doing so. As you know, our volunteers are the backbone of our Club. One group I’d like to acknowledge is the Club’s Capital Campaign Committee, which has been meeting since last summer to plan and implement the current fundraising effort. They include Susan Green, Joel Janetski, Stan Jonasson, and Fred Weinmann. The Committee is still hard at work as we make the push for the last $15,000. I also want to thank all of those who helped with our Spring Gala. Though the weather outside felt like hurricane force winds, Jeannie Ramsey, Mary Critchlow, and Susan Green and their group of volunteers made it all work inside the Y. The function was well-attended and there was lots of fun, with the dink tournament and free giveaways! As spring is upon us, we look forward to more pickleball play outdoors. Thank you to Jeannie Ramsey for taking on the huge task of organizing activities for PTPC members this season. The response to both the Intermediate Round Robin and the two Challenge Ladders has been overwhelming and those activities will be underway soon. Look for more fun events to come this summer. Happy Pickling, Lynn The PTPC Board invited members of Port Townsend City government to join them in an introductory pickleball lesson on Saturday, April 23, at the MV courts. The weather could not have been any better, the new players easily picked up the game, and fun was had by all. Court Ops Director Jim Dow is seen here weed-burning the MV Courts! This sure is dedication. Won't it be nice when we get enough donations to upgrade to new courts, and we can relieve Jim of his duty. Thank you to all of our leaders and volunteers that help make it a safe place for us to play. Photo taken and sent in by Jeannie Ramsey. It was a beautiful morning for Social Saturday to take place at the PT High School courts. Approximately 40 pickleball players showed up to play. Photos sent in by Patti Rowdabaugh. Pickleball is growing by leaps and bounds!
