“MEET JIM AND JANE MACNAB DOW” PTPC MEMBERS

Jim and Jane are NW natives, both born in Oregon near the Columbia River many years ago.  They met at Oregon State University and lived in the Portland area for 35+ years. Jim says they have been mediocre at racquet sports for many years. In their first apartment in Portland the living room was beautifully decorated with a ping pong table. They started playing tennis in their 20’s and didn’t stop until they discovered Pickleball. 

Jim and Jane moved to Port Townsend 13 years ago to be near their son and his family (especially the grandchildren).  They were introduced to Pickleball by friends during a trip to Sunriver, Oregon.  Thinking it seemed like fun they decided to look into opportunities in PT.  Jim loitered in the doorway at the Mountain View gym one day and a friendly guy named Darryl described what a great game Pickleball was.  After buying two high-end wooden paddles for $10 each Jim and Jane ventured into the intimidating Mountain View gym.  After sitting down, a friendly guy named Joel told Jim “you can’t play with that paddle”.  Joel loaned them a paddle and they were hooked!

Jim and Jane enjoy Pickleball mostly because of all the friendly folks at PTPC. Jim currently serves as Director of Court Operations on our board. These two play one heck of a pickleball game. Give them a shout out when you see them on the courts.
