SPRING 2022

The PTPC Board invited members of Port Townsend City government to join them in an introductory pickleball lesson on Saturday, April 23, at the MV courts. The weather could not have been any better, the new players easily picked up the game, and fun was had by all.

ON NEW YEARS DAY THESE PICKLEBALL PLAYERS HAD HAD ENOUGH OF THE COLD WEATHER STOPPING THEM FROM PLAYING PICKLEBALL. THIS GROUP GOT TOGETHER, HAD A WHOLE LOT OF FUN AND MADE IT HAPPEN. WITH HARD WORK AND PERSEVERANCE THEY WERE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT THEY SET OUT TO DO. LET’S PLAY BALL! (ALL PHOTOS SENT IN BY TONI DAVISON, SUSI FELLER AND SHARLENE SHIROMA.)

Way to go, Bill and Shar!

Over the weekend, Jeannie Ramsey and her partner Terry Williams from Canada won a bronze medal in the 4.0- 50+ Women's doubles tournament in San Carlos, Mexico. Congratulations, ladies!

Congratulations to our Jeannie Ramsey and her partner Beverly Hoffman of Sequim (pictured on the right) who brought home a silver medal from the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championship in Indian Wells, CA. Jeannie said that it was an evening and night of endurance. They played from 5-10 pm in 40-degree temperature. Each of the medal-winning teams won three matches, so it went down to points scored, and they won in point differential! We are so proud of these two ladies.

The Courthouse Courts. The Courthouse Courts opened Tuesday August 17th, after a two-year long campaign by PTPC, and they are beautiful. Many thanks go to Matt Tyler, Manager of Jefferson County Parks and Recreation, and the PTPC Facilities Committee. The Committee met with Matt several times since fall of 2019 to plant the seed and advocate for pickleball-only courts somewhere in the county. Many sites were considered and the project finally ended up at the Courthouse.
