From the time we formed the Port Townsend Pickleball Club, it has been our goal to actively pursue the es-tablishment of permanent, pickleball-only courts in Port Townsend. Our Board has never wavered from this goal. We now have an opportunity to take a huge positive step in this direction. After an exhaustive search, we have secured an excellent location. Mountain View is already dedicated to recreation activities for all ages, including an adjacent dog park. It is a location where we are not likely to disturb neighbors, be limited to playing only a few hours a day, or be subject to closures for other uses, as the high school did in the fall. We also have a supportive partner in the City of Port Townsend.

We have signed a Donor Agreement between
the City and PTPC giving the Club permission to hire a contractor for the upgrade. The Agreement includes an MOU specifically stating that the Club can run its programs at the newly renovated Mountain View courts.
Thus, after two years of dedication by our members, we have a superb opportunity to achieve a major goal of the club. Now, in order to take the final step toward this goal, we need to provide sufficient funding support in a timely manner. If we miss out on this opportunity, it will be extremely difficult to find a comparable opportunity in coming years.

We are asking our members to pledge their support. We estimate the cost of the project to be $35,000. It includes resurfacing the concrete slab at Mountain View for two pickleball-only courts and a third court with a roll-away portable net. The third court would be multi-use, with a basketball goal and lines for both pickle-ball and basketball, and it would be accessible to the YMCA for its youth programs. Paint, nets, fencing, insurance, etc., are also included in the cost.  Can we count on you for your support?

I/We pledge the above amount will be paid upon Port Townsend Pickleball Club’s receipt of donations and pledges that are sufficient to complete the upgrade of the Mountain View Pickleball facility presently proposed by PTPC, which includes the resurfacing of the existing concrete slab for permanent, pickleball-only courts and any/all required building approvals, permits, insurance, etc.
