Important Changes to the High School Schedule – Please Read! On Thursday, three PTPC Board members met with the Superintendent of Schools, Sandy Gessner-Crabtree, and two of her staff to address the noise complaint of one of the neighbors near the pickleball court at the High School. After a constructive discussion, PTPC agreed to reduce its hours of play to try to mitigate the noise issue. Here are the changes to the schedule at Port Townsend High School, as of Sunday, April 4, 2021:
While these accommodations are not ideal for pickleball players, the Board is optimistic that a future site with permanent courts can be developed in collaboration with both the City and the School District. Meanwhile, Happy Pickling, and please enjoy your pickleball quietly. Survey Results for Indoor Play at the MV Gym Discussions with the Y have proceeded regarding indoor play. The results of the PTPC survey about indoor play showed limited interest for playing inside through the spring. Thus, PTPC has informed the Y that it would like to launch its new indoor program in the Fall. (The Y may proceed to develop its own pickleball program, mainly targeting beginners, until then.)
