Annual Meeting and Practice Tournament Results

On 13 July, Port Townsend Pickleball Club had its Annual Meeting to vote in its newest Board Members:

• Bill Beezley won a majority of the votes for Treasurer; and

• Gordy Iwata won a majority of the votes for Court Operations Director.

Both gentlemen bring a lot of energy and experience to the Board. 

Club Members thanked Carol Anthony-Gartlan for her tireless work as Treasurer the last two years.  Her final presentation was a brief on the Club’s 2026/27 Budget. 

Our President, Dan Maguire graciously thanked our tireless volunteers and informed members of the need to increase club dues to $45, to ensure we build funds for future court renovations.  He also appealed to members for a volunteer to take on the Communications Director.

We finished with a great potluck and lots of socializing.

On 14 July, Cheryl Hollatz’s Tournament Clinic participants got to put her lessons into practice with a special tournament.  We had 10 teams playing a round robin elimination.  The top 4 teams played semi-final and final matches.  Here are the results:

• Gold: Rick Gauthreaux and Patty Dunmire

• Silver: Gordon Burk and Eva Richards

• Bronze: Bill Ferguson and Makiko Guji

Thanks to everyone who showed up to cheer the players on.  The participants are now ready for our Intermediate Modified MiLP Tournament on 11 July!
