Intermediate MiLP Tournament Action

Selkirk Ambassador, Doug Hastings, Advanced Clinic, Mountain View Courts, Sunday, 30 August.  

We still have slots available for the Advanced Clinic.  Doug conducted Clinics in both June and July, and we received very positive feedback from both sessions. Here’s what Doug will cover in the Advanced Clinic:  

This class is meant for 3.5 and above players. This 2.5-hour class gives you the blueprints on how to get to the kitchen successfully with a higher percentage rate and help you develop the kitchen game.

• Transition game

• 3rd shot drop, drives, lobs

• Speciality shots

• Overheads, drop shots

• Serve and return

• Dinking with purpose

• Speed ups

• Resets

• Blocking

• Offensive lobs

• Kitchen strategy

Intermediate Level Tournament (3.0-3.5) Saturday-Sunday, 5-6 September, Mountain View Courts

The club will hold an Intermediate Tournament (3.0-3.5) at the Mountain View courts with Women’s Doubles matches on Saturday Morning (7:30am Tournament Meeting) and Men’s Doubles on Saturday afternoon (11:30am Tournament Meeting).  Our Mixed Doubles will compete on Sunday (7:30am Tournament Meeting). Signup is through Playtime Scheduler.  Medalists in our Intermediate tournaments get free entry into the PicklePalooza, the Olympic Peninsula’s premier pickleball celebration sponsored by 7 Cedars.  

Entry fee is $10 per player per event for Club members and $20 per player per event for non-members, and competitors should pay using the Club’s website at this link (click on the 5 or 6 September calendar page): https://www.ptpickleball.com/events.

Last Beginner Lesson Session, Saturday 5 September 9:30-11:30 AM, Courthouse Park Courts

Mortimer Round Robin Social Sunday, 20 September from 1-4PM, PTPC High School Courts

In this format, teams of three compete against each where the first two players play as normal and the third player must stay behind a blue tape line placed six feet inside the baseline to play deep balls in that area. When either front player makes an error, they become the Mortimer.  This is a very fun format where all levels of players can join in the hilarity.  This Social is free, and signup will be via Playtime Scheduler, beginning on Monday, 1 September.
